Full Description
A good late 17th Century solid oak slat back chair with vase shaped splat and solid twin boarded seat, raised on turned and block supports with turned front stretcher and peg joints.

Beautiful colour and rich natural patina. The original pages are small and squared, and as the timbers of the chair have shrunk and expanded over the centuries the pegs now sit - as they should - slightly proud.

The chair has a great shape and a lot of charm. From form and colour of the oak this may well have been made in Ireland.

The chair solid throughout, with evidence of old worm – long since treated and dead – and wear and losses to the feet and stretchers, some old worm to the underside of the seat boards and a small chip and loss to one corner of one board.

Comfortable, robust and heavy. A lovely, usable and original example with a great colour.
