Full Description
A wonderful early 20th century bronze vase by the New York maker, Otto Heintz. He started his business 'Arts and Crafts Shop' in 1902 supplying many of the gift shops and department stores in the North and East of America with high quality metal wares made of copper, bronze and enamels.

In 1906 he renamed the company the “Heintz Art Metal Shop” and began to focus on designs made in bronze and overlaid with sterling silver in delicate floral and natural forms - he developed a method of applying the silver to the bronze without solder and created wonderful patinas on his bronzes - in chocolate browns, brown-golds, greens and reds. The processes were patented but many remained known only to Otto and when he died suddenly in 1918 the secret chemical formulas were lost and his company floundered without his leadership and knowledge, finally closing during the Great Depression in 1930.

This lovely and large example is in very good original condition with a beautiful soft green patina. The silver overlay is a delicate and beautiful image of three entwined flowers   The base is stamped '3081 B Sterling on Bronze Pat. Aug 2712.

Some minor tarnishing to the silver over time - attractive and natural - but which can easily be removed with silver polish and a cotton bud if desired. Some light surface abrasions consistent with age and use.
