Full Description
A particularly fine quality George III Cuban mahogany dining table seating 6-8 people and made in c.1820 with a very beautiful and warm colour to the figured mahogany and inlaid with a wide crossbanded rosewood border.

In superb condition for age, the circular top tilts easily and smooth as silk on its original mechanism with substantive brass catches and brass screws (all matching and original). The top with deep figured mahogany apron set on its very well shaped mahogany platformed column with hand carved gadrooning and finely carved bead detail to all four faces, over four short sabre legs terminating in brass embossed Rococo winged casters which are original also.

Superior quality and superior original condition, heavy and robust, the table sits firm, level and solid with no movement.

This beautiful table may well be by Gillows of London and Lancaster, particularly given the distinctive carved details and exceptional quality, and certainly is by a Georgian cabinet maker of Gillows quality.

A wonderful table.
