A charming small walnut and oak mid-18th century chest on chest.

The upper case with two short over two long drawers, the lower case with two long drawers. The long drawers are graduated and all open and close smoothly with brass bail handles on Chippendale design backplates with matching escutcheons, old brass locks but no key.

The drawers are oak lined with very fine boards of wainscot oak, solid and robust with beautifully cut dovetails.

The colour of the walnut is rich and warm and vibrant with a lovely grain and natural deep patination.

The chest stands at around chest height and is well proportioned. All set on tall bracket feet.

An attractive George II period chest on chest of an unusually small and desirable size.
