Full Description
Six boards – all original – and with large exposed tenons and a well carved front panel of geometric and gothic motif with gouge carved ground.

Original candle box retained inside, some small repairs and restorations. Feet with depletions and the coffer with marks and dents consistent with age and use. No wood worm. Additional supports added below the lid at each side, a very long time ago as these have developed a slight smile.

Attractive toothed apron and shaped spandrels. With a very good dark honey colour to the walnut, the back board with hand adze marks and nailed up corners – all original.

Heavy and robust and a lovely practical size and a very pretty coffer.
