Good Solid Joyned Oak Box Stool of Carolean Design c. 1880

Full Description
A very attractive and robust solid oak stool of late 17th Century design with carved foliate and arched stretchers uniting channel carved and shapely legs.

The fabric in excellent condition with no tears or noticeable wear. A solid wool mix heavyweight fabric with plain top and foliage patterned side panels over the shaped apron.

All peg jointed in the traditional manner and having long and genuine age but in our view this is a 19th Century stool made by hand in a design of the 1680s.

Very heavy, completely sturdy and with a good natural colour. Solid oak with finely turned legs and a bulb and reel turned intermediate stretcher. No worm, no damage, no repairs.

There is a genuine ‘wow’ factor to this stool. It could easily pass as 17th century but is entirely usable and comfortable and very attractive.

Dimensions are:

20 inches wide, 17 inches tall, 15 inches deep.
