Full Description
A very high quality George III period large serpentine chest of three graduated drawers with brushing slide over and retaining original brass embossed handles, original locks and escutcheons.
The chest has fully oak lined drawers with fine dovetailed joints and all run smoothly and are clean, solid and original.
The cockbeaded drawers with a wonderfully rich grain – matched to each drawer so that the grain flows naturally from one to the other. The top drawer retaining its original oak divisions.
The oversailing top is solid mahogany and is beautifully and flamboyantly carved with a wonderful shape. Beautiful bracket feet, original also, and a fielded panel back typical of a London maker c. 1800.
Exceptional value – this would have cost over £5000 a few years ago! reflecting the current low prices for early mahogany.
With provenance from a local property.
