Full Description
With fine hand carved acanthus, tendril and shell frame and retaining its original mirror plate of lovely depth and soft hue which reflects perfectly yet is highly atmospheric.

The plate with a few tiny age freckles and feathering here and there at the outermost margins consistent with age and not noticeable or detracting from the mirror.

Purchased in the 1990s from the renowned fine antiques dealer (founded in 1859 and trading continuously since) Salomon Stodel of Amsterdam and has been retained in the same ownership since. The purchase price was 17,500 gilders - more than £7,000 - original invoice will be provided.

The receipt dated 2 December 1998 describes the mirror as:

'Een antieke verguld houten Lodewijk XV spiegel, Nederlands, ca 1750 to 1765'

('An antique gilded wooden Louis XV mirror, Dutch, c. 1750 to 1765')

A beautiful, fine and elegant 18th century mirror in lovely original condition.
