Full Description
A very attractive and original 17th century oak spice cabinet on stand with carved frieze and lovely geometric moulded door.

The cabinet and stand are peg jointed throughout. The internal fitted with two short over once central drawer flanked by open compartments (which have never had drawers) over one long bottom drawer, all with original brass split pin ring handles. With replacement hinges for the original iron straps and later 18th century steel lock.

Good colour and condition throughout, usable and with a beautiful natural colour and aged patina.

A charming example from a time when spice such as nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves were as almost as expensive as gold and were kept in special boxes such as this under lock and key.
