Queen Anne Candle Salt and Key Wall Hanging Elm Box c. 1710

£880
Dated
c.1710
Dimensions
16 inches high, 13.75 inches wide and 4 inches deep.
Full Description
A superb example in solid elm and with a fabulous colour and ‘skin’.

With wonderful rich warm tones and dark swirling grain to the elm and a deep natural patination which glows.

The oak lined drawer with turned wooden handle beneath a candle store with shaped sides apron and above this a lidded salt compartment.

This wall hanging cupboard was made by skilled hands in around 1710 and is in superior original condition with no damage or repairs. Original timbers throughout. The backboard has had some small felt pads applied to provide spacers and protection from the wall on which it was hung but these can be easily removed if not required.

A very tactile object, smooth as silk, absolutely marvellous colour.

In my view one of the best examples you will ever find.
