Full Description
A beautiful and very small oak side table with single drawer and box stretchers. Original timbers throughout and retaining original pegs.

The drawer with thickly cut dovetails and nailed up bottom, turned feet original also and continuous with the legs. The drawer would originally have had a single central handle and now bears solid brass handles and escutcheon with attractive patination and wear – the handles are early 18th century and have been on the drawer for the last few hundred years, it originally had a central single drop.

The lower shelf branded beneath branded with the initials L.W.

Some old worm beneath stretchers, to side panels and to top – not significant and long since treated and dead. The table is heavy and robust, all as it should be. Twin boarded top with small loss to one rear corner.

It is extremely rare to find a fine small 17th century table in such original condition, with maker’s brand and with a lovely patina and colour.

An absolute gem.
