An utterly beautiful solid brass floor standing boudoir lamp in the French naturalistic Art Nouveau style and of exceptional quality. The lamp is extremely heavy and was made in the period 1884 to 1900.
Originally an oil lamp and retaining a removable clear glass tall chimney with no damage or marks, the lamp has in recent years been converted to electricity and now takes a B22 bulb. The lamp is in full working order and will be delivered with four spare bulbs - two candle flicker bulbs (LED) which give the appearance of a natural flame - with an atmospheric and attractive soft light - along with two brighter 4W led candle bulbs for a stronger warm white light. These bulbs will last for years.
The lamp and base are stamped with 1884 - English Made and stamped with Registered Design Number [Rd]60615 and with stamped patent numbers. Various parts of the lamp stamped with Lampe Belge Improved Thermidor and Lux Way.
In excellent working order, the large brass oil reservoir and the whole body of the lamp with beautiful foliate and open flower head decorations. The column supported with naturalistic embossed branches and ribbons and with matching decoration to the base with its four curvaceous leafy supports. This oil lamp was made to be extendable with an original brass turn key but as it has now been wired for electricity we recommend that care is taken if extending so as not to damage the internal wiring which runs through the column.
A rare model, very heavy indeed, substantial and solid in excellent original condition with no damage or significant dings or marks and from a good private collection. With a lovely colour and soft sheen to the brass which is without any significant wear or marks throughout.
