Full Description

A rarely found original Georgian period coal, log and kindling bucket with thick brass banding, solid brass hoop handle and brass mounted handle to front.

Like everything made by the Georgians this was made to last and is already 275 years old.

It has been used regularly for most of its life and yet is still in excellent and entirely usable condition.

Coopered in the same way as a barrel would be, the oak staves cut and shaped before being fitted together without glue and then bound by thick brass straps which are overlapped and riveted along one side.

A lovely piece of vernacular Georgian furniture and rather unusual to find a coal bucket or scuttle in such superb original condition after centuries of use.
