Full Description
A beautiful and comfortable rocking chair, original and dating from c. 1825 with ebonised frame and retaining all of the brass twisted rope inlays and multiple open flower head gilt brass mounts.

The chair is upholstered in a blue velvet (a close match with Oval Room Blue in the Farrow and Ball paint range). It has a buttoned and braided finish and the velvet is in very good condition with no marks, tears or noticeable wear.

The chair is well padded and comfortable - perfect as a nursing or fireside chair - sturdy with no weak or loose joints and entirely usable. There is some natural light wear to the ebonised finish here and there - very little as shown in our photos - and this looks entirely right in an antique chair. No evidence of woodworm, no later elements to the frame and no restorations.

A charming rocking chair which has clearly been extremely well cared for all of its life. An unusually high quality late Georgian example with lovely detailing in the brass inlays and mounts.
