Full Description
A very solid and robust true set of six elm and fruitwood Penny chairs with a rich well developed colour and set on ring turned legs united by well shaped double bulb stretchers. Most attractive scalloped top rails, fine ring turnings to the back spindles and lovely dished penny seats.

A lot of work and care has gone into the making of these chairs and they have remained in excellent robust and usable condition and have clearly been well looked after.

All of the joints are tight with no creaks or movement, the chairs are heavy and high quality, and they are remarkably comfortable with a good gentle rake to the back.

The seat height is 18 inches, which is perfect for use with most dining tables, and these chairs do not have arms so will push well in under a table when not in use. No worm or significant marks and no repairs.

A very good set of six late 19th century Penny chairs in lovely original condition and with a consistent and attractive colour throughout.
