A beautiful mid-Georgian carved pine giltwood mirror with leafy foliate border and the gesso carved with leaf veins and small fruits
20 inches wide by 30 inches high.
For metric please multiply by 2.5
The whole of asymmetric design with a delicate cresting of entwined branches and with a well defined scalloped border to the inner frame.
The mirror plate is early but not original and has an attractive soft golden hue to the hand made glass and only minor speckles from age.
Small losses and light wear here and there to this, the original, gilt and a few natural and superficial cracks to the frame consistent with its great age and entirely normal for such an authentic period mirror.
A very original early George III mirror of a large size for this period and beautifully carved in an irregular design of unusually elegant and refined form.
