In superb condition, a beautiful cast iron table by Falkirk Iron Works and dating from around 1880.
The intricate foliate and pierced top with twelve cartouches – each a beautifully modelled sign of the Zodiac.
With no repairs or damage. Very heavy and sturdy, the table is 150 years old and will last for centuries more.
From a Lancashire country estate, the paintwork is old and attractively mossy and weathered apart from the top which the owner recently repainted with a white metal paint to give a clean surface for dining. This will weather over the year but is currently noticeably whiter on top compared with the base.
Shown here with a set of four Victorian garden chairs of a particularly fine and intricate design (probably Coalbrookdale) and of elegant and compact proportions – available separately and purchased from the same vendor as the table.
Good undamaged Zodiac tables are highly collectible and rarely found. They are works of art.
The table has clearly always been very well cared for and retains all of its original fixings.
